3 Easy Ways To Financially Detox After The Holidays
The holidays can be a wonderful time of year. There are events, parties, family, friends, food, and shopping for the perfect present. Unfortunately, this also means there is a ton of stress both mentally and on the bank account. So, while your waist might be getting bigger, your account is not. After all the heavy eating and heavy spending you are probably in need of a detox. I know I am.
1) Frugality Needs To Be Your Best Friend
Frugality may have gotten a bad connotation over the years, but it can actually be a huge benefit. Being frugal has also been replaced with minimalism. Essentially, it is living a lifestyle where you are not being extravagant with your money. You are meticulous in your spending and you are living far within your means. After such a crazy holiday, you need to live a very meek lifestyle for awhile to get your accounts back up to a reasonable level. Some may need more time than others, but it can be greatly beneficial.
2) Cut Out The Extra Carbs And Cut Out The Extra “Things”
When are all inevitably decide to start a diet after the holidays, one of the first things many of us will turn to is carbs. We cut them out because too much can be bad for us. Similarly, you should try to cut out the extra stuff in your life. If you are like many of us, we received gifts this holiday. Much of it we wanted, but some we may not have. Regardless, you can use some purging of the excess items in your life. Consider selling or donating your extra things. You can either make money through this reduction of items, or you can simply take the tax write-off. Either way, you will be better off.
3) Exercise Again!
One of the first things we neglect this time of year if ourselves. We are so tied up in the season, we neglect getting some exercise. We also tend to neglect our budgets. Our budgets end up sitting there doing nothing. They become that treadmill in the living room which we use to hang clothes on. When used properly, it can provide health benefits to us. If ignored, it cannot provide any help. Thus, it is important to get back to your budget. It is longing to have you use it and make it work for you. So, take the hanging clothes off and get back to it!
Ultimately, there are going to need to be some changes in your diet and habits to get back to where you were before the season. However, it is not impossible to do. With enough dedication you can get it done!
