3 Ways To Declutter Your Finances In 2019
Clutter and excess can cause a great deal of stress in our lives. As a culture, many of us accumulate more and more stuff as we live our lives. However, we often forget to also get rid of the excess which we do not need or use anymore. We have even made television shows about how to properly declutter our lives and homes. What many often do not take into account is this same line of thinking can also plague your finances. Consider a declutter routine with your money management as well.
1) Bills, Bills, and More Bills!
Often one of the first things we are overwhelmed with is all of the bills. Whether they are in the mail in paper form or through online statements, they are annoying. Consider what the bills are you are receiving on a regular basis? Are they for utilities which you are unable to necessarily get rid of, or are they multiple bills for many different things? Do you have 7 credit cards for department stores or other retail shops? These are questions you need to ask yourself! If you answered yes to the latter of the questions, you can easily declutter. Close the credit cards you don’t need, cancel the memberships you don’t absolutely need, and stop the accumulation!
2) Listen To Your Budget
I have mentioned it time and again. You have to have a budget in place when you are getting serious about your finances. It provides not only a plan for your money, but also acts as a tool for making big decisions for your finances. Once you have one, be sure to listen to it. Look at your categories. What are your highest ranked categories for which you are spending money on? What can you do to reduce this? Maybe there is a reduction in your eating out every month or trips to get coffee. Regardless of what it is for you, this reduction will continue to declutter your finances and provide some room in your overall finances.
3) Combine And Save!
Yes, we hear these exact words all of the time from ads. Did you ever actually stop to try it though? For example, what is you were able to save an additional $40 a month on your insurance by combining your policies? How about combining your checking accounts all into one place so you can easily manage them? Another option would also be to combine your retirement accounts with one provider to keep track of your savings. The concept is quite easy, but it is often left alone do to the lack of affect it will likely have. The truth is, even the smallest of adjustments can provide greater visibility into your finances as well as provide stress relief.
It is 2019, and it is time to make a difference in your financial lives. With the economy struggling, it is important now more than ever to get your money management skills up to speed. Understand what you can do to make your lives easier and hopefully declutter and relieve stress in your life.
