5 Reasons Your Financial Struggles Are Not Your Fault

Living paycheck to paycheck is hard on your personal life. The anxiety of struggling to pay bills can be overwhelming most of the time. If you throw in an already faltering health, you are simply tempting fate. So, why do so many of us deal with this?

We Were Not Taught Growing Up

When we are young we are taught many things. For most of us, personal finances was not one of them. It is actually kind of weird when you think about it too. We are taught so many things about math, science, history, language, etc. and yet, the basics of managing your own money was not one of them. If you were one of the lucky ones who had the option to learn this critical skill, count your blessings. Most of us have had to learn the hard way. However, now there is hope! You have the ability to start today to create a financial foundation which will carry you through the rest of your life if you stick to it!

Our Parents Did Not Know Either

Aside from learning in school some of the pivotal information we are to use in our adult lives, our parents are supposed to be there to provide insight as well. Our parents are supposed to act as a help-meet for the information we might miss in school. If they too did not get this information during their tenure in school, you are not likely to have received it at home. Thus, this should implore you to take action for your own kids. If you have kids of your own it is imperative to pass of the information you are learning today!

Society Does Not Encourage Financial Literacy

You would think our society would want us to have the knowledge to make smart decisions about the money we are spending. Unfortunately, this is farther from the truth. Your spending habits change based on the more you know about managing money. You become smarter with your personal finances. Thus, you are less likely to exhibit frivolous spending habits, and more likely to save your money. Does this sound like something a car dealership, a department store, or a fast food restaurant would want?

We Are Brainwashed

Yes, you heard me correctly, we have been brainwashed to think certain things in life. One of these is credit cards are basically more money! If you REALLY want something, all you have to do is put it on a credit card. You do not have to actually have the physical cash sitting in your account, you just simply need to room on your credit line to buy it. Thus, the stores do not care if you are necessarily able to pay for something, or if you have the cash. They are more concerned about the sales numbers they are able to drive and the profit they are able to recognize. Therefore they feed into the illusion credit cards are normal and so is buying everything on credit

More Money Is The Solution To Everything

Having a good paying job allows us to have some luxuries and necessities in life. However, it will not allow us some of the higher luxuries which we are seeing others have in the world. Our social media is blown up with pictures and stories of people who are able to enjoy these things as an intention to drive jealousy or envy from others. We are then encoded to think more money will be able to solve everything. This is sadly not true. More money often leads to more problems than fixes. In reality it is actually how you manage your money which provides for some of these other luxuries. The millionaires and billionaires you may see are not actually managing their own money. They have hired others to help them manage it all appropriately. The illusion still remains that more money will grant you freedom.
