Without These Investments In Your Life, Your Investment Portfolio Will Be Useless
Investing is an essential part of having a successful and financially healthy life. Unfortunately, many do not participate in this practice, nor do they utilize all investment avenues. This does not refer to the financial aspect only.
Financial Investments
The primary category many of us think about with investing is the monetary or financial implications. This is standard due to the natural desire to accumulate wealth as it relates to stability. Another cause for this popular subject is the historical outcomes witnessed over the years with failures and successes. We have seen economies fall due to the lack of proper controls and risk assessment of the markets and types of securities. Many have also had the opportunity to be witness to many accumulate massive amounts of wealth in a short time due to great investment strategies. I, like many others, would love to have the ability to have similar results. Unfortunately, a massive windfall such as this has not been seen in my lifetime, yet. However, it is still essential to invest. Investing, regardless of the value, allows the user to plan for their future financial condition through the mechanisms of the economy. I would strongly suggest you meet with an advisor as soon as possible to plan out your investments. Regardless of the dollar value, anything would be better to at least attempt than to have never tried at all.
Physical Investments
There is another category in which many often delay our investment in. Some start off early in life with this category in mind, and actively pursue this growth. Others may have a late start, but still maintain a sense of understanding earlier on and take appropriate action to avoid hindering this investment going forward. Ultimately, a physical investment requires a sense of active thinking. Much like planning for your retirement, ensuring your money is going to be there to support you in the later years of life, your health needs to be planned for as well. Sadly, most focus too often on the financial aspect of these investments expecting everything else to last forever. As we all know, this is simply not the case. Luckily, this investment is one of the easiest to start and maintain. Living a healthy lifestyle through exercise, eating right, and having routine checks by your primary care providers will do wonders for your investment of YOU! If you neglect this investment or put it off for too long, you will have a hard time trying to recoup lost returns later in life.
Spiritual Investments
The third category I would suggest all to invest in is their spirituality. Many may disagree with me on this topic, however, having a spiritual life can do amazing things for you. I personally have Christianity and the Bible for my spiritual investment and growth. There are multitudes of other religions out there which you can certainly check out. However, I am affirmed there is a need for this investment through the following Bible’s teachings.
“In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” – Hebrews 5 12-14 NIV
Spirituality is not the same as religion. Investing in your spirituality will likely consist of a healthy regimen of reading, meditating/praying, and fellowship with others. This type of investment can play a key role in the other two mentioned as well. You may find insight into your financial investments or may alleviate stress from your life. Both provide beneficial results to your overall investment in taking care of your life.
Your Portfolio
You will only get one life. This is your ultimate portfolio to manage, and the payoff can be huge. Money, health, and spirituality are the result of the decisions we make to better our lives. Basic investing would suggest not putting all of your investments in one bucket. Thus, if you are focusing on the financials only, you are not going to be able to grow the other two as well. If you want to invest your time in any one investment, I would suggest the spiritual investment. This investment will likely glean other understanding to help with the other two in the short-term. It will also allow you to prepare for the long-term returns in this life aside from money.
