What Are You Doing To Ensure You Can Get Out Of Debt

Working with others to help them get their finances in order is rewarding. We help others learn from our hardships and hopefully help them to avoid them. Unfortunately, it can be difficult in working through some of these things. I wanted to share some of the common things we tend to run into which makes it difficult to help them.

Unwilling to cut things from your spending

When working with others, we almost always find items in their budget which are extra. These items can be things such as subscriptions, addictions, etc. Typically they are common items that could potentially save a lot of money. Unfortunately, moreĀ  often than not, it is hard for us to part with these items. Either they are things we have been doing for years and don’t want to change, or it is convenience we don’t want to give up. Ultimately, these decisions to keep them will set us back in our endeavor to be financially free.

Unwilling to follow through

Anyone can have the drive to get out of debt and be financially free. Having this drive and actually following through are different things. So often I work with people to get their finances in order, and they start out strong. They are cutting back and tracking everything. Unfortunately, within a few months, the drive has fallen by the wayside. The drive is gone, and it has become easier to do what they used to do. Without the follow through during the hard times, you will never reach your goals.

Life happens, and you get setback

Living a financially free life can be rough. Especially when you are trying to get out of debt. In many instances it becomes a bubble of managing money. This bubble pops when life throws a curve ball at you. Your car gets totaled or lose your job, and nothing works anymore. The budget doesn’t make sense with this new issue, and we struggle to make sense of the next steps or it all falls apart. When this happens it is crucial to work with a coach to keep you on track or take a step back and logically re-assess everything.

These are just a few of the items we have dealt with. Basically, you have to be willing to roll with the punches and keep moving forward.
