We all have things in this life which we enjoy doing. Sure some of them might seem strange to others, or maybe they are just simple things. However, it is something YOU enjoy. Unfortunately, life tends to bring us down with other responsibilities as we are “adulting”. We begin to push away these passions and instead focus on the things we are required to do. Life gets stressful and may even seem unbearable. So, what if you indulged in your passions? How would life seem then?

Your Passions Make You Smarter

Yes, a common misconception for many of the things we like to do is that it might not be good for us. For example, some may choose to spend time playing video games. To other judging adults, this may seem like a childish thing to do and a waste of brain power. However, more studies have proven that playing video games can actually enhance cognitive thinking and strategy developing skills. It can activate portions of the brain that you may normally might not engage through daily life. The good news, is basically anything you are having to learn is actually increasing your thinking processes and helping you become smarter, even if only a little.

Passions Alleviate Stress

If you are like me, you probably have a stressful job at times. You have projects with deadlines, reports due, big meetings to plan for, etc. The sheer amount of all of it can be suffocating at times. If you don’t have an outlet to help your mind unwind, you will likely explode or in some cases implode. Both options are not pleasant to go through or to witness. This is where your passions or hobbies come in to play. I enjoy woodworking and working on building projects. Although it is almost a second job on the weekends, it is extremely relaxing and enjoyable to do. It helps me unwind and de-stress before the week begins again. Find your hobby or passion which helps you unwind.

Your Passions Can Make Money

Yes, what would a finance post be without talking about money. One of the benefits of having certain passions or hobbies is that they can make money! If you are into gaming, you can compete in tournaments with some sizable prizes. If you do crafts, you can sell them to others and make some money. If you are like me, I am actually working on an order for a table which I will make some good money on. So although passions and hobbies are good to help you enjoy life, they can certainly fill the bucket of a side hustle if you choose it!
