Without A Budget You Are Setting Yourself Up For Failure
Being an adult can be hard work. Having to deal with bills, jobs, and other responsibilities can be a tough thing to do. There is so much riding on no one else but you. When we are younger we are fully reliant on our parents. They buy our clothes, food, and provide shelter. We never really worry about how all that is going to be available from one day to the next. However, when we are on our own, this all changes. Suddenly things are expensive! Who knew? You can’t afford all the junk food you had as a kid and staying in is way cheaper than going out with friends. Also, there is the nagging fear in the back of our minds that one small misstep will cause it all to fall apart. There is so much stress that it seems unbearable at times. Luckily, there is a simple tool which will help relieve a good chunk of the stress and pressure. It will also help you ensure your bills and other responsibilities are taken care of. You guessed it. It is a budget!
Budgets Delegate On Your Behalf
So many young adults tend to ignore a budget. They think it is too difficult or they don’t know how to do it. When someone brings up the topic of having a budget it can seem overwhelming. I know this because I was there too! Sure, I was much younger than most to get the “talk” about budgets. It wasn’t until I was forced to sink or swim with my own finances after the economy tanked. I needed to pay for college and pay bills. I suddenly had a bunch of people wanting me to pay them and I needed help! This is where my friend the budget came in to the rescue. I delegated to it what needed to be paid and when. It helped me figure out what I could afford and what I couldn’t.
Budgets Are A Big Stress Reliever
Despite what many young adults may think of a budget, it is not a burden. A budget does not tell you what you can’t buy and spend, rather it gives the freedom to know what you can spend money on or afford. If one of the big stress points in being an adult is being afraid something is going to get messed up because you spent too much, a budget can fix this. A budget allows you to see what has been spent to make sure your set, and then shows you how much you have left for other things. So, when you want to go out on a Friday night with friends, you will already know you either can or can’t indulge! Don’t let a budget be a bad thing as you continue to adult.
